India to see launch of 2 moon missions in early 2018



Delhi: The country will witness the launch of two lunar missions from Indian early next year.

Indian Space Exploration Organisation (ISRO) will release its Chandrayaan-2 mission, an advanced version of their previous 2018 mission with the objective of the more deeply lunar surface probe, and another mission by Crew Indus, a group of space enthusiasts who wish to unfurl the tricolour on the moon's surface within a global lunar competition.

Crew Indus, comprising mostly young engineers and led by IIT-Delhi alumnus Rahul Narayan, is planning the quest as part of a global contest to succeed $30 million Google Antojo XPRIZE, which stipulates the rover of a rivalling team has to move 500 meters on the moon's surface and should be able to light beam back high-definition images returning to Earth.
